Apartment Renovation

Located in the historic London Terrace, this small apartment was in need of a major overhaul 90 years after it was first constructed. The owners wanted to rethink the layout of the space to create a more open, functional, and contemporary home.

Working closely with the owners, k—da set out to completely transform the apartment, with the goal of moving the heart of the house into a new great room, which would serve as the central gathering place for the family.

One of the first steps in the renovation process was to remove the existing kitchenette from the entry space, which created a cramped and cluttered feel. The design team then worked to relocate the kitchen to the new great room, which allowed for a more spacious and open feel throughout the apartment.

In addition to the kitchen relocation, the design team also created a new hide-away office in the entry space, which helped to maximize the functionality of the apartment. This simple yet elegant addition not only provides a dedicated workspace for the owners but also adds to the overall aesthetic appeal of the space.

The end result is a beautifully renovated one-bedroom apartment that feels bright, spacious, and contemporary, while still maintaining its historic charm. The new great room serves as the heart of the house, providing ample space for entertaining, dining, and relaxing. The kitchen, now located in the great room, is spacious and functional, featuring modern appliances and high-quality finishes.

The hide-away office, located in the entry space, adds an additional layer of functionality to the apartment, making it a perfect choice for professionals or anyone in need of a dedicated workspace.

Overall, this luxury apartment renovation is a great example of how a well-planned renovation can completely transform a small living space into a functional and stylish home that is ready to take on the next century.
