Eidetic Waves

Competition Entry / Paper Architecture

Our competition entry, EIDETIC Waves, aimed to design a new path that would allow safe and sustainable access to a popular surfing beach while preserving the delicate doon-lands. We recognized the importance of creating a structure that would not only minimize the impact on the environment but also provide a unique experience for visitors.

To achieve this, we developed a design that utilized an algorithmic formula to create a wave-like structure that made minimal contact with the ground. This innovative approach allowed us to create a path that appeared to flow naturally across the landscape, seamlessly blending in with the surrounding environment.

We recognized that this path was not just about getting from point A to point B but also about providing a memorable experience for visitors. As such, we incorporated various program elements into the design, including seating, shade, and photovoltaics. These features not only enhanced the functionality of the path but also allowed visitors to pause and take in the stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

At the core of our design was a commitment to sustainability and environmental preservation. We recognized that delicate ecosystems like the doon-lands were under threat, and it was our responsibility to create a design that minimized our impact on the environment. By using an algorithmic formula to create a wave-like structure, we were able to create a path that appeared to float above the ground, significantly reducing the impact on the fragile ecosystem.

Ultimately, we were proud of our competition entry, EIDETIC Waves, and the innovative approach we took to designing a new path over the doon-lands. Our design not only provided safe and sustainable access to a popular surfing beach but also created a unique and memorable experience for visitors while minimizing our impact on the environment.
